Chicken Jhal Fraizy

 Try out this bangladeshi jhal frezi recipe and serve it with rice or bread. Its good for your lunch or dinner both for the whole family.

Yield: Serves 5-6

 Ingredients:  

  • Chicken 1 kg
  • Onion: 1 cup (sliced)
  • Ginger: 2 tsp (paste) 
  • Garlic 1 tsp (paste)
  • Chili powder 1 tsp
  • Oil :   1/2 cup
  • Cardamoms 4
  • Cinnamons sticks 3 (2.5 cm piece)
  • Tomato ketchup 1/4 cup
  • Green chilies 4 - 6 (pared)
  • Coriander leaves 1 tsp
  • Saltto taste

Directions:

  1. Cut the chicken into 12 pieces. Heat the oil. 
  2. Fry the onion until transparent. 
  3. Add the chicken and rest of the ingredients except the green chilies and ketchup. 
  4. Stir-fry for 2 – 3 minutes, then cover and cook over medium heat for 10 – 15 minutes or until gravy has thickened. 
  5. Add the green chilies and ketchup, cover and keep over low heat for about 8 – 10 minutes. 
  6. And Sprinkle coriander leaves. 
  7. Serve hot with boiled rice, pulao, chapatti or parata.

Dhaka Chicken Karahi By , Sept 7, 2013

Nutrition facts: 690 calories, 54 grams fat






Dhaka chicken karahi does have a distinct and wonderful flavour, Crushed spices are used instead of powder and tomatoes, green chillies are added towards the end, that are soft yet whole. Enjoy it with naan, chapatti or rice. 

Ingredients: -  

Chicken, cut into pieces 1 kg -
Onions, sliced 2 medium -  
Tomatoes, chopped 4 -  
Green chilies 4-5 -  
Water 1 cup -  
Oil 1/2 cup -  
Fresh coriander 1/4 bunch -  
Ginger, sliced 1 medium piece -  
All spice powder 1 tsp -  
Crushed cumin 1 tbsp -  
Crushed coriander 1 tbsp -  
Red chili flakes 2 tbsp -  
Ginger, garlic paste 3 tbsp ...

 Instructions:  

1. Heat oil in a pan and saute ginger garlic paste in it for a few seconds. 
2. Add chicken and salt  
3. When chicken changes its color, add sliced ginger, cumin, coriander, red chili flakes and salt and mix. 
4. Add water, lower flame and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. 
5. Add sliced green chilies, onions, tomatoes and fresh coriander and stir. 
6. When all vegetables are tender, add all spices powder and stir well. 7. Dhaka Karahi is ready to serve.
